You should be somewhere in Hemming Plaza.
This plaza was once a grassy park and was sold to the city of Jacksonville in 1866 for $10.

In 1978 the grass was removed and the bricks laid making this the plaza you see today. When we were here at 4pm on a Thursday the plaza was full of chess players, people getting their hair braided and a variety of interesting characters. 

Look around you. 
Check out Jax City Hall to your north
and to your east is the Skyride Hemming Plaza Station, you'll be visiting here on your way home.
